Android Market: 4.5 billion downloads on Google 30 June 2011

Elon Ian Carrington, the Director of the division mobile advertising from Google, the Android Market has reached 4.5 billion downloads of applications (free and paid), is a growth of 1 billion in 60 days.

This news follows the recently unveiled by Andy Rubin. The latter announced on Twitter that Android had reached 500,000 daily activations bar, against 400 00 less than two months ago. It is unfortunately impossible at present to know if this incredible growth of Android is related to smartphones or tablets. Rubin nor Carrington gave precision on the subject. When even, 1 billion downloads in two months is an impressive data.

Also here are the steps via the Android Market since its launch:

* October 2008: launch of Android Market
* July 2010: 1 billion downloads (in 21 months)
* April 2011: 3 billion downloads (in 30 months)
* Late June 2011: 4.5 billion downloads (in 32/33 months)
