Batteries to infinite autonomy for smartphones? 21 August 2011

It may be that the handheld devices of tomorrow have infinite autonomy. This idea has been mentioned many times but it can only be more enthusiastic after the revelations of a group of Australian researchers.

The researchers in question belong to the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT). They are currently working on the development of a film can generate energy when the user uses the devices screen. This film is, of course, intended for devices with touch screen, including smartphones. When the finger presses the screen, the energy produced is carried on.

This is possible through nanotechnology and the piezoelectricity. Thus, the apparatus will responsible for constantly when it seeks. Although the idea behind this work is interesting, it is difficult to imagine that the slip of the fingers on a multi-touch display generate enough energy to make infinite autonomy of a machine.
