SEOUL (Reuters) – Samsung Electronics presented Wednesday four new smartphones to its Galaxy line including cheap models that he hopes to take advantage of the growth in emerging markets.
The South Korean Group has thus expanded its line Galaxy, which has now five categories and extends models of smartphones top range entry.
“Samsung seeks to increase its market share in emerging markets with models costing approximately $ 200, where penetration of smartphones is lower than in developed markets,” said a spokesman for the group, quoting words of a leader of the mobile division of Samsung at a meeting Wednesday.
With these new models, the South Korean Group will happen on the segment of entry-level handsets, which is a fierce competition between the Chinese ZTE Corp. and Huawei Technologies, but also a range of manufacturers without name.
This initiative will also strengthen competition with Apple, which is both the largest client of Samsung and main competitor.
