Android is not free 7 September 2011

With the acquisition of Motorola Mobility, Google is close to the Apple model.
To the extent that Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, the art has to be off the mark in his predictions about the products of its competitors, many observers, including myself, have ignored his critics last year to the strategy adopted for Google Android.

It was clear that the mobile operating system nibbling a piece of Microsoft and began to chew on the heels of Apple. (Last March, had even anticipated Android Apple narrowly on the market for mobile operating systems.)

Microsoft and Google are playing a similar role in the phone industry: they design the software that runs on handsets but do not manufacture the handsets themselves. So that their software is used, the two companies thus create partnerships with manufacturers. But while Microsoft charges its operating system Windows phone manufacturers, Google’s own free loose.
