High Point: PCIe Cards With Four “Real” USB 3.0 Ports 19 September 2011Posted by computeraholic in Uncategorized.
And even support RAID for one of them
High Point has just announced two new PCIe cards that each have four “real” USB 3.0: RocketU 1144A and 1144AR.
Indeed, in both cases, they incorporate as many as four controllers ASM1042 by ASMedia. Each port USB 3.0 therefore has its own bandwidth of 5 Gbps.
They are equipped with a PCIe 2.0 x4 interface, which allows them to have a throughput of 16 Gbps, or 2000 Mb/s, corresponding to 500 Mb/s up via USB 3.0 if the four are used simultaneously.
The difference between this product comes simply from the support of the levels of RAID 0, 1, 5, 10 and JBOD by RocketU 1144AR. Indeed, if you connect in USB 3.0, as devices (hard drives or SSD) storage on this map, you can set up RAID. However, RAID software must be installed as no dedicated chip seems to be present on the PCB of the card.
RocketU 1144A is immediately available at $89, but the manufacturer gives no details concerning the RocketU
