The microblogging platform that allows users to post text, images, videos, links, quotes and audio to their tumblelog, a short-form blog announce lands $85 Million in Funding

The blogs platform Tumblr today announced the raised $85 million in fresh financing, reports The New York Times. The round was led by Greylock Partners and Insight Venture Partners, and the Chernin Group, Richard Branson, Spark Capital, Union Square Ventures and Sequoia Capital also contributed. The valuation of the company after the fundraising is not yet known.

Tumblr had raised $40 million so far. Launched in 2007, this site allows to very easily create blogs focusing on text, photo, and the sharing of links. Tumblr claims 30 million blogs created so far, 40 million of “posts” published and 400 million page views daily.

In one year, its visitor in the United States has nearly tripled, from 4.2 to 11.8 million unique visitors in May 2011, according to The Social Media Report Q3 2011 by
